25th September 2008
GE John F Welch Technology Center
Whitefield, Bangalore.

............................................................................

This was the day when bangalore operations team of the global healthcare market leader 'GE Heathcare' conducted its first technology event/ symposium by name 'TCP'. The day beginned with inagural of the event which was done in a traditional indian/ south indian(;)) style by ligthing of the lamps by Suresh, Malancha and Ramanan(The prestigious award winners for the current year). Mind that the lighting does not mean by switching on the electrical switches but it is lighting the threads which float in a pool of oil. This is usually considered as a good sign to start an auspicious occasion in southern parts of india. It was followed by a speech by renowned 'Manipal Health Systems' MD & CEO, R Bhasil who was one of the chief guests, invited for the inagural event. It was surprising and good to hear that before taking the 'MD & CEO' position had worked with GE Heathcare for exactly 3650 days :) as said by Mr. Bhasil himself. Prior to that he had worked with Crompton & Greaves. He holds a Bachelors and Masters degree in the engineering field. And one more best thing is that Manipal Group of Hospitals is good client of GE Healthcare. I feel good whenever i visit Manipal Hospital located at bangalore as i get to see heathcare machines that are a make from GE Healthcare which i am a part of.

Mr. Bhasil walked us through a number of statistical presentation slides which highlighted the importance of heathcare across the globe, lack of specialized doctors in certain specialized areas of medicine which included India as well and so on. He went on discussing the statistical data for a long time period. At some point of time i felt sleepy :) but then it will be a bad impression for the firm if the speaker or some delegates sees me sleeping so, i did control to an extent. Finally, he very cleverly promoted his organisation by saying that it was ranked number one in various categories. Nonetheless he said his intention was not to promote in such a place. :) At the end Mr. Bhasil was provided with a cheque with 'X' amount of money as a charity support towards Manipal Group.

We then broke out for a short fifteen minutes break after which we were told that we would be having a session from Dr. Arjun Kalyanpur, a surgeon and founder of 'Teleradiology Solutions ' a services company based at bangalore.

...........................Meet u after a short break :).........................

Welcome back.......

Well the second session was initiated with a speech by Dr. Arjun Kalyanpur , founder of 'Teleradiology Solutions', Bangalore. He had pursued his studies mostly from abroad and he shared with us the fact that he was voted as the person who has a least chances of becoming an effective entrepreneur but he expressed himself as a happy person as he overcame his batch mates prediction sucessfully. He was an interesting person. He presented a bunch of good slides during

his presentation of which i liked the slide in which he had expressed the fact that would be present in every individuals mind which showed the transition from godess saraswati to lakshmi.

What he tried to express from that particular slide is that everyone likes to earn lots and lots of money after gaining completing the education he worships saraswati first and then after completion of education he switches worshipping lakshmi and giving less preference to godess who is worshipped for doing well in studies. This also tells that you should not focus on earning more and more money but also consider to use the knowledge gained effectively through out ones life. By worshipping both the godesses equally throughout ;) He gave some set of opportunities in the field of healthcare. He thanked GE Healthcare for the support that we provide in coming up with some rural health improvement plans along in partnership with Teleradiology Solutions along with government support in karnataka. He had a large set of audiences who were very much interested to get to know about his and his entrepreneurship success. At the end he too was presented with a cheque of 'X' amount towards 'Teleradiology Solutions' as charity from GE Healthcare.
